Holly Mitchell Endorsed by Former Opponent Jorge Nuño for County Supervisor

Mitchell also releases resource hub for Los Angeles County residents impacted by COVID-19

LOS ANGELES—State Senator Holly J. Mitchell earned the endorsement of Jorge Nuño for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors District 2. Jorge Nuño, a community advocate and entrepreneur, endorsed Sen. Mitchell as the Supervisor’s race heads into a run off for November 3, 2020.

“Jorge is a fighter for our communities, and I’m proud to have him in my corner,” said Senator Mitchell. “Jorge ran a substantive campaign focused on ensuring our most vulnerable communities were heard and prioritized. His endorsement means a lot and I look forward to working with him to deliver on our commitment to create a healthy and vibrant Second District.”

Nuño declared, “I just spent the last few months debating Sen. Holly Mitchell for the Supervisor’s seat, and we’ve grown to respect each other’s mission. She agrees with me that the poorest zip codes in the County need to build a political alliance for Historic South LA that brings Black and Latino residents together to improve the health and economy of our district, and that effort will continue with us." He added, "We need to prioritize our most vulnerable neighborhoods and redistribute tax dollars back to the people who have been deprived of it as an investment in jobs and housing.”

Senator Mitchell, who also serves as the state’s Budget Chair, has been called the “moral compass” of the State Legislature by her colleagues for her leadership in improving public services and authoring landmark legislation to meet the needs of working families and their children. She has authored and passed over 80 bills to fight homelessness, take on the housing crisis and secure mental health services.

To assist LA County residents in gaining access to vital resources and information on COVID-19, Senator Mitchell created a resource hub on her campaign website. The Community over COVID-19 page – offers helpful information for gaining employment support, accessing food and other everyday needs for residents whose lives have been significantly disrupted by this pandemic.

State Senator Holly Mitchell is in the run off for the open seat to serve on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. She has also been endorsed by Governor Gavin Newsom, Dolores Huerta, SEIU 2015 and many more. To learn more visit
